New 2021 T4R ORP owner here in Portland, OR. Other than the Moonroof, I have no other options on the Runner and need some help prioritizing and some advice on some of these items.

    Rack:
Id like some advice on just how to think about what I should put up there. For at least the next year I'll be doing light-to-moderate trail driving, i.e., forest fire roads, but also lots of beach driving, and using the Runner for weekend camping trips.

I've got a Yakima box and some Yakima crossbars would work just fine. But a rack or a basket would also work and provide expandability should I decide to do some more moderate off road driving and want a place to tie down a shovel, axe, trax, etc.

I do know for sure that I am not interested in a RTT and I wonder how much this affects the question of what to put up there.

What are the practical considerations I should have in mind thinking about whether to go with crossbars vs basket vs half-to-full length racks?

    Rails:
Ive had the Runner for two weeks now and I am missing some sort of step. I'm 5'9" as are my boys, and itd be nice to have a step or rails to get into the Runner, knock the sand off our feet/shoes, etc.

I'm not getting into any serious wheeling, but want to be prepared for moderate trail driving where the trails might narrow and I may need to slide along. With that in mind, I don't think I want something like Predators since they might get caught up since they're hanging down.

So, Im thinking something like rails with a step out.

But, Im also sensitive to price and would like some solid budget options.

    Tires:
Stock rubber right now, but want to get some all terrains on there for toughness, durability, and for when I encounter some softer sand, mud, and snow.

Im coming from a 300c SRT8 with Pilot Sport z-rated tires and know very little so far on AT tires. I think I see that the Falkens and BFGoodrich's are well regarded.

    Wheels:
Im really confounded here. I sorta like the stock wheels, but also really really like the TRD wheels. I understand that the TRD wheels are something like 0.5" narrower, but don't understand if this matters in any practical way.

Im in no rush to change the wheels, but would appreciate some advice, again, on how to think about new wheels.

Very long original post, but I appreciate your time and any advice or thoughts...

20200807_200946[455] 4runner.jpg 20200905_161649[511] 4Runner.jpg Welcome from Wisconsin! Stock roof rails that come on the ORP, so I can't help you there. As far as tires, we went with Cooper AT3 LT in a 275-70-17. They are E (10 ply) rated and do very well in rocky conditions as well as snow, wet, sand and moderate mud. For the wheels, here are pictures of the stock ORP's and a picture of XD's in a 8.0" width with 0 offset. Also the Predator side steps from Toyota. We were going to go with the TRD wheels but the thinking was there are thousands of them on the road, we'll pick something different. Not anything wrong with them, and as far as the width of the TRD wheels... depending on the tire you select, they will have suggestions as to the width of the wheel to get the max performance out of a certain tire. BTW- we sold our original tires back to the dealership and had them install the Coopers from the get go. The factory ORP rims now reside in our garage. Hope this was of some help, good luck!
