Hey guys, was wondering if the scooped and non-scooped hoods were the same as far as fitment? I have an sr5p in midnight black metallic and really want a scooped hood. If it's the same, anyone down to trade? I'm in LA area. Thanks!

Same fitment. I'm sure you could find someone who doesn't want a scooped hood and swap.

Although to be fair that entire thread has brokered like 1 actual trade!

    And it's 20:1 flat:scooped

Everyone be wanting that skewp (except me, but my OR hood is hosed so no one wants mine)

If the Off-Road came without the fake hood scoop, front/rear bumper fascia and the wagon wheel rims, I would have bought it rather than the SR5.

I literally chose the SR5 over the Off-Road because of aesthetics rather than features.

Yes, I know that's kinda stupid.

Well I went with the OR for silly 4x4 stuff that I don't really need cause I was a noob and this is my first "truck" .. so we all make .. mistakes? lol ;-)

They're all good. Kinda kick myself for not saving the cash sometimes on an SR5, kinda kick myself for not spending a little more on a Limited sometimes.. lol Toyota knows what they doing when it comes to marketing. Or wait.. do they? I dunno. All the 4WD 4Runners are cool in my book tho!

Love the skewp, personally! Fits the TRD OR personality.

The odd thing about Toyota's 'marketing' is the scoop is on the Tacoma Sport, and the Tacoma Off Road - no scoop. So what's with that?

Like you, a lot of the time I think I probably would have been fine with an SR5. If they were offered with the TC shifter instead of a dial, I'd have gone that route.

I almost concur. I like the look of the TE / OR wheels and they are actually a better and more functional wheel than the SR5 or TRDP wheel (1/2 wider than both, valve stem protection).

However, the scoop, front and rear fascia are unattractive and pointless, IMO. To the fascia specifically, it aggravates me that the trim color is silver (to look like aluminum, I guess?) when the other trim like the plastic bit under the lettering on the tailgate is black.

When I first got my OR I wanted to swap out the front and rear bumpers and hood with some rube with an SR5, but I got no takers despite everyone clamoring for that shit. Now it's too late as there is not a panel on the truck that isn't gouged and nicked from going offroad, hauling stuff, etc; and my winch install resulted in the bumper and fascia getting cut up. The only benefit to the front fascia is when I sell I can remove the winch and tray and slap a on new fascia to cover the cuts.

Oh well. Ugly but worn is character, I guess.

I agree. The silver bumper valances are the least attractive feature of the OR model.

I'm tempted to just cut my hood and bolt down a scoop. Or maybe I'll just go to AutoZone and buy those super cool scoops that just stick on your hood

On the white, with black accents, that's huge improvement! Thanks for the photos. BTW, did you toss your old upper grille insert? I've been looking for a spare.

I absolutely hated the look of the silver front valance. I had mine painted to match the Midnight black metallic and then had Xpel film installed on the front.IMG_4620.jpg

I agree on the silver trim. I like it sometimes, but its kind of....interesting, and doesn't work well with all the colors. I felt quite lucky that I scored a silver ORP, as it's barely noticeable . I love the OR rims, except for how shiny they are! They're super rare where I'm at, and it's kinda cool to me. I'm thinking to add some kind of a clear matte coat so they don't look so minivan though. Lots of silver on silver on shine haha.
