    Hi all I need some information. So I have a 2011 Limited 200k miles and am in need of replacing the shocks and struts. I have the Xreas system, and am wanting to go away from it as the price to replace is kind of high. Before I realized what I had I had bought regular shocks and struts from NAPA only to find out that there was the hydraulic system in place, making what I had bought not usable. Now my question is am I stuck with the XREAS system, or are there after market replacements that I can use? Do other brands come with the hydraulic connections? Can I use regular shocks and by pass the hydraulic system? If I do that will it cause codes to flash since there would not be the XREAS system hooked up? Forgive my ignorance to this issue as I have never dealt with this type of system before.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    XREAS is a sealed, non-serviceable system. Once’s a shock leaks or the system is open it all needs to be replaced.

    the good news is that it’s purely mechanical with no electrical control or monitoring, so you can rip the system out and replace it with whatever you want, even those Napa shocks.

    No problem. Also just an FYI for if you DIY it, if the you unbolt the hose AT the shocks it will drain the dampeners, at that point they are not pressurized and can legally be thrown in the garbage.

    This is similar to an issue I am having. I was told my 2004 Toyota 4runner Limited 4WD V8 needs front struts, strut mounts, and stabilizer link bar. We ordered the parts on RockAuto.

    Parts ordered:
    Stabilizer Bar End Link/Bushing MOOG K90683 front right, MOOG K90677 front left;

    GABRIEL struts G51739(2) Ultra Info Front; Limited; SR5 Model; Except X-REAS Suspension

    Strut Mount GABRIEL 143383 Front; Mount w/ Isolator, Cushion, Retainers & Nuts

    My mechanic said they are the wrong parts because I have hydraulic struts. Is that the same as adjustable struts? Someone else told me I have Xreas. I don't have a manual with me - how do I know for sure?

    Does anyone have any experience with this and what parts I should have ordered? The vehicle is squeaking a lot over bumps. Not much clunking, and a sound that sounds like a chain shaking. Now after reading other posts I'm concerned because the mechanic has not worked on hydraulic struts before. Should I be worried about him doing something wrong and getting air in the lines?

    This is my 1st 4runner. I'm in the USVI and the roads are treacherous, so I want to keep the suspension in good shape.

    Thank you for any advice you can offer!

    Xreas can be easily replaced by regular suspension for 4runners. I replaced mine when it was new. Bilstien 5100 & toytec springs.

    I'm thinking of OME bp51 now. I want the softest ride on road. Many lifted suspension are trail focused.
