so Im trying to take out the stink bug Tijuana tilt that my 4runner came with. 1" spacer would do it, but, was told it would pre-maturely wear out ball joints and "destroy" the ride, (according to a fellow obviously having a bad day), any thoughts, anyone?

Not a fan of spacers. Depending on what your budget is and what your plans are for your T4R, I would recommend a pair of coilovers (fox, icon, king - icon and King seem to be favorites).

The TRD Pro should be factory leveled.

But to answer your question, no, there will be no detrimental effect on component wear and I have never noticed a handling difference.

Go Bilstein 5100s before spacers. Better ride. Low Price.

I went with a 2" front/1.5" rear toytec spacer lift on my Limited. Wanted to keep XREAS. Looks good. No noticeable difference in ride. Note profile picture is pre-lift and sliders.
