Oh my goodness. That was...uhm....wow.....still processing.... the deepest, most sarcastically ironic, psuedo-philosophically adept look at the psychology and physicology of the thing known as 4runner. It made me feel both immensely proud to be a 4runner owner, and a complete mall crawling poser. Bravo!

If this channel is successful, I bet nobody is making fun of him for his English major now!

RCR is basically just a troll “reviewer” who lays heavily into a lot of mostly internet stereotypes and meme culture associated with the cars people let him drive. Some of his earlier videos were funny, but his comedic touch has waned as he grew more popular (or I just got older and his pre-pubescent jokes became less funny).

I wouldn’t get too wrapped up with his video. The internet will always be the internet; where dumb videos are posted and circlejerks abound. Go out and enjoy the drive.

Gotta keep things in perspective. 98% of 4Runner reviews are positive. There needs to be at least one video out there for the Jeep and Ford drivers, so they can smile and sleep well at night.

It's all good, If a guy posing as a psychology major who probably lives in his moms basement wants to make a TRD Pro video and psycho analyze 4Runner owners, more power to him.

"This review feels like when I was back in Highschool, having to listen to that one girl in class that reads too many books and loves horses more than her own parents. She talks so much and at the same time, doesn't really say anything useful at all. These guys act like car buyers go out with some calculated, Freudian need to caretake one's inner most insecurities or some such.

The reality is much more simple - people buy these things because they are capable, reliable and hold their value. That's it. Domestics are absolute junk, including Jeeps. Nissan is not much better and they don't even offer a competitor to the 4Runner anymore. The only brand that matches Toyota for reliability and resale value (Honda) has zero interest in body-on-frame so there is no real alternative to 4Runner.

Yes, the engine is an old design. Does it work...
Yes, the body in general hasn't changed. Not a single person I know (truly cares).
The ability wasn't mentioned because I truly believe this video was made in jest. That is why their voices are so odd. It is hard not to laugh. I see a 4runner roast & it was stupid.
Does our 4runner see more concrete than dirt; yes. We live in a city. As soon as travel is permitted/ accepted; we will see what she does.
Driving into a melting ice (not snow) pile is just the start of the joke...

Remember: If you feel attacked because someone made jokes about the car you drive, maybe you're the one who needs a bit of self introspection.

You don't have to feel defensive about your purchase decisions, because you are not your car.

I laughed through the whole thing because it's 100% true. It's the reason I don't hang out with other 4Runner drivers in real life - because we're all self-important assholes who take ourselves too seriously. Christ on a bike, learn to take a joke people.

Meh. I’m not familiar with RCR beyond this video. I like the idea of a parody car review channel, and 4Runner culture is certainly ripe for satire. But this video just wasn’t that funny. Worthy intent, perhaps, but pretty mediocre execution, IMO.

I’m trying to defend comedy here, btw, not my 4R.

 

I only listened to about 5 or 6 minutes. Even as a joke, there were some valid points made. 4Runner owners, or any other vehicle enthusiasts, for that matter, get all butthurt when someone verbalizes anything considered negative about their baby, when they (we) really know there's probably some truth to what's being poked fun at.
