Just wondering what happened to my last post on selling the 4Runner to CarMax. Lost? Deleted? Did I violate a forum rule inadvertently?

Looked for it this morning. Poof :notsure:

Why was I looking? Wanted to add this. Used prices appear to be elevated due to the 'chip' shortage. If so, we may not have seen anything yet? If it is due to chips? When supplies return lots of dealers could get caught setting on some big losers, if they fail to time things right.

??? What in that thread could have possibly violated anything? Mistake maybe? Or did it get moved?

May have been deleted due to a huge uptick in scams related to selling that occurred here and on TW in the last day or two. Scammers would take your legit ad and use it as their own and create deals to good to be true. Sadly, members fell for them and sent funds in ways that were not recoverable

I thought I was dreaming. After your post, I checked my car at carmax and got an offer that was within $500 of what I paid for it 1.5 years and 24k miles ago. Tempting. If there were anything else that struck my fancy, Id be doing it.

Seems to me that you should maybe check it out. I dont know what it’s like in your area, but I bought mine 21 OR under MSRP just by walking into the dealership. Might be a good way to pocket some extra cash and get a new 4runner

I think Carmax has an error in the system but hey, sucks to be the guy that screwed up once they fix it
Started thinking of how are they doing more than msrp
Went on CM and they have a base sr5 p / compared to a brand new one down the street. Who in the right mind would buy one at that price? I know flat out the new one can be negotiated way down on top of this

Very hard to find, took me about a month of calling every dealer within my state and neighboring states. No one had what i wanted on the lot, i got super lucky i found one when i did.

Its not just 4runners thoiugh, I have lots of guys at work who have been selling there trucks to upgrade because of how much they are getting for there 2-3yr old trucks. Its an insane market right now for vehicles.

It certainly could be, all of it, but that discussion might ruffle some feathers.....

Yeah that's interesting. I have doubts that these elevated used car valuations will be around too much longer, now that the vaccines are available to anyone who wants one. My company is preparing to have us return to work in May. It's completely optional, but after speaking with a lot of my coworkers, I can say there are a LOT of people ready to return to the office full time, including me. Things might start returning to normal before we know it.

I think the reason we let other countries take over most of that production stuff is because of the pollution.

Bingo! Kaiser steel(and many others) were regulated out of business. Know that for a fact.

Remember ENRON? Here's a company that left California to survive. The ENRON scam(added to the cost of doing business in California) and it was time to leave. Can't imagine how long it must have taken(if he has) for him to recoup the costs of having to relocate? But, they're still making knives.

I live about one mile from Buck Knives old shop, i own quite a few Bucks, and still have the one i bought in the very early 70’s. I was sad to see them go, but California has forced so many company’s out.

Buck knives are beauties. I also use Cutco knives. Lots of kitchenware plus sporting knives. They also are the parent company of the Ka-Bar brand.
    Made in Olean, NY, USA.

Ka-Bar was the first knife I owned as a kid...other than my Boy Scout labeled sheath knife.
