So is this done to protect the factory paint job OR to slightly tweak the look of the vehicle? From the one photo posted the finish looks different than factory paint. Was that the intention or just a result of you wanting to protect the paint job. If the goal was protection, why did you feel it was necessary? I've had a ton of cars and have never worried about the paint job. Just normal washing and waxing as needed.

This looks killer and I've got no issue with spending $5K. Just curious what the mindset is when going this route.

This is interesting from an investment perspective. If you need a daily driver... but you know you’re not gonna put a lot of miles on it... and you also know you’re gonna keep it for a long time... and you also take good care of your vehicles... and the 5th gen is the last of its kind...

This route could possibly net you several thousand $$ in 20 years. Imagine buying this truck in 2040 and peeling off the “stickers”...

 

It's more than a slight tweak. If you've ever seen Stealth in person, it looks like a high-end matte paint job. It is super cool.

Installation is everything with this stuff, and it looks like the installer here did a killer job. I would be extremely pleased if this were my rig.

-pragmatism: protects from potential rock chips and most road debris
-any panel can be replaced with new film

 

We wrapped ours in Xpel (clear) a month after buying in '19. We love it. Someone keyed the side & a hot towel took it away. Great stuff!

Okay, I didn't state that correctly. We did everything we thought was a questionable trail rash area. We didn't do our roof or rear hatch. We figured we always can & didn't need it immediately. Otherwise we are safe! Xpel is a great but expensive item (worth every penny). I posted our receipts in a PPF (paint protection film) thread I would to dig up...

A lot of Ferrari and Lambo owners get their front-ends or entire vehicle wrapped in that XPEL stuff. It's not cheap but it adds another layer of protection and looks amazing when properly installed. That black 4runner looks awesome.

I just have one question. Why do you enjoy getting out of the passenger side?

 

I wouldn’t run my weed whacker anywhere near that thing......
