Who peed in your cornflakes? This thread has quite a bit of whining about nothing. You seem to have taken personal offense about something.

It's no business of yours how I do or don't use my 4Runner.

It is sloppy, it's a Toyota. If you want better fit and finish, get a luxury brand. These are basic cars churned out to the masses. Anything that isn't a big deal is easily overlooked.

Y'all, I get that this is a seat-belt bolt, but go check your front fender liner if you are worried about exposed bolts...

    Yes and no.
I mean I’d hardly consider some of these 4runners cheap. There are some luxury brands that have models selling for less than the cost of a 4runner. Also probably not going to take my luxury BMW off-roading like I would my 4runner.
I paid good money for my 4runner and I don’t think it’s unreasonable for me to want it to be assembled/finished correctly which is why I took it in for inspection.
That being said I’m not losing sleep over the fact they wouldn’t cover it under warranty. I tried they said no so I spent $12 bucks and fixed it myself.

Is it in any way demonstrable that this is a design flaw, can lead to a serious critical failure, or even that it matters?

Clearly this is present on a crap ton of 4Runners, I just checked mine has it.

Can it in any way be demonstrated that fixing this issue, as described in this thread has any effect?

Hey I am with you brother. Apparently Toyota has already beaten my expectations down after about 6 months of ownership.
