I miss not having it when the days nice here in Chiraq... does it deter from the functionality... not at all...

I had a Tacoma, the sunroofs are a lot smaller than the 4R. Another reason I love the 4Runner.

    Feel free to ask
We have a sunroof on our other vehicle that I used for the first time in maybe 3 or 4 years last week. Only used it for a few minutes before someone in the car asked to have it closed. For me the novelty would wear off pretty fast as it has with my other vehicle. YMMV.

I don’t care for them. I’ve found I’ve ever used them much. So I now pass on the expense.

I always open it up thinking I’m
gonna enjoy it and then I close it 30 seconds later cause it’s annoying and the sun shines in my face and I don’t open it up again for three months. And repeat.

The rear window, on the other hand, i love having it open. With the back seat windows cracked, too.

I enjoy driving with it open here in southern California on warm summer nights.

I wish I could buy without sunroof for more interior space and safety especially here we have hail in CO.

Sadly I could no find without sunroof when I want heated seats. Pretty much all Premiums had sunroof at the dealerships around me.

I had a sunroof on my 2004 Limited and rarely used it in the 15 years that I owned the vehicle. When I bought my TRD ORP in 2019, I got it without the sunroof.

Missed not having one on my Tundra. When buying it I was like, "no big deal, I don't use it too much on the Tacoma." Once it was gone I realized my rational was incorrect for me anyway.
It was a must have again when getting the T4R. It's especially nice on those cooler days when you can have all 4 windows down, sunroof open and rear window open. I do find myself using it in the popped up position more than wide open but that'll likely change again come Fall and the cooler weather returns.

It was a must for me when find my used 4r. I had one for 8 years in my Titans and not having it in the FJ was just sad for me. I live in California so I use it every single time I get in for a drive unless it’s raining hard.

I’ve had a sunroof on the last 5 vehicles I have owned. I’ve opened them a grand total of 2-3 times for a few minutes then closed them. I personally don’t use them and don’t think you’re missing out on anything. It’s not a deal breaker to me either way if I have one or not.

I dislike sunroofs for many reasons.

Plus you lose quite a bit of headroom with a sunroof in the 4Runner. If your short then it probably won't be an issue.

Years ago when we were car shopping for the wife, she test drove a 4Runner with a sunroof. I sat in the back and the salesman rode up front. I had to tilt my head to one side because of the lack of headroom. My neck hurt from a quick test drive. I'm 6' tall.

My current 4Runner has no sunroof and I have ample headroom.

Found this at the link below:
Interior Dimensions of the 2020 Toyota 4Runner

Starting off, the 2020 Toyota 4Runner can seat up to seven people when equipped with three rows of seating. If the model does not have a moonroof, the Toyota 4Runner has 39.3 inches of headroom in the front, 38.6 inches in the rear, and 34.3 in the third row. However, if there is a moonroof, there is 38.6 inches of space in the front row. Next, we have shoulder room with 57.8 inches in the front, 57.8 in the rear, and 57.7 inches in the third row. Then, we have hip room with 56.5 inches in the front, 55.7 in the rear, and 43.3 in the third row. Finally, we have leg room with 41.7 inches in the front, 32.9 in the rear, and 29.3 inches in the third row.
    =======================
So according to this article, a moonroof in a 2020 Runner will cost you approx. 0.7 inches of headroom in the front seats. Any loss in the back seats isn't mentioned.

I love my sunroof and after having owned several cars without, after having one in my first ever car, it was a must for me and I had to custom order my venture to make sure it came with one.

Seven people in a 4Runner? Only if five of them are toddlers.

I'd say whatever flavor of 4Runner you desire, sit in the back and then decide.

IMHO, you can comfortably seat a total of 4 adults, that's including the driver.

If you need to haul seven people, then get a Sequoia.

I rarely open my roof while driving. I do like having the option to climb through it to secure something on the front of the rack, or as another exit point if something goes sideways. Even when I wear my Tilley hat, I still have a couple of inches of headroom, but I'm 5' 9".

So looking forward to a sunroof on the 4Runner I'm going to be buying shortly. Must-have feature. Love having the sun on y face, love looking up and out while in the woods, and love it opened when driving on the beach.

lots of stones flying here in Az, even on teh highway, hence I don't like sunroof.. it's just another thing that will break and could also be another cause of problem if it fails. My wife's friend has a brand new vehicle with sunroof and it caught a rock.. it's more money down the drain se said. She said it also feels hotter during the summer.

Sunroofs are a notorious no-no due to the added weight and placement of that weight at the top of the vehicle, raising the vehicle's center of gravity. Both things significantly impact the performance and handling of sports cars like the 4Runner, where low curb weight, brisk acceleration and nimble handling are the vehicle's raison d'être...

I absolutely love mine. My wife has had several but never really used them. This is definitely one of those YMMV things. As for headroom in the back seat, I don't sit back there so I don't care.

I like mine. Initially I didn't care, but the ORP I bought had it and I'm glad it does now. Great on sunny days.

If I knew I was gonna be keeping a vehicle beyond 5 years, I’d choose not to get a sunroof. Just more to repair/maintain down the line. But then, I don’t “love” sunroofs either. If you love them, then get one and enjoy it.

My goofy choice of grammar did not come across as intended.

    I meant that if a 4Runner doesn't have a sunroof...I don't want that 4Runner.

I love my sunroof...I use it quite often.

I miss having a sunroof on my 3rd gen :(, one of these days I might change that. Its a matter of personal preference, the only draw back is that they might leak as they get old.
