@victoryrunner any thoughts to a half shelf? Two main reasons. Love the molle, don't want lose the entire height of hatch, as I transport taller items often. However, need some storage for the RC cars, lightweight camp stuff, and occassional 2 tier access.

Also, don't want to put my fridge on a slide, so it needs to be able to flip up the lid.

In addition, weight would be halved, which is nice.

I like the idea of the shelf adding structure strength by creating a system with both panels, and there's a lot of useful holes in the molle which I used to mount my homebrew solution.

I present to you the closetmaid shelf + aluminum angle (for support RC car 1.5 tier storage. It's only 12" deep and I added some of the extra alu-angle so there's a ledge to set it on. It's held on by zip ties, since the vertical is covered by the L brackets.

Curious if you've debated a half shelf? I think it would be a great seller. I'll be happy to prototype one :) Also, I'm happy to share my dimensions, notes, mounting points so you could save some R&D and get right to testing.

Additional Notes: I designed it so the seat can recline, it can use existing panel holes (no mods needed to panel), and it will not obstruct the rear view while driving, and you can still lay seats down no problem. Also, attic net still works fine too.
