I'm having trouble finding a replacement Rear-driveshaft for a 1999 2.7L (4cyl) manual transmission driveshaft. There's plenty out there for automatics and the more common 6cyl but I'm not exactly a professional when it comes to hunting down parts.

My driveshaft can't be repaired so I need a replacement and where I live in Colorado I cant find any.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Drew

I can also look around when I get to work in the morning. I'm sure I can find something used but that's the issue.

Due to the weekend I haven't been able to call the shop Ol'Blue recommended however I have been doing some research online to learn some more about what I need to get. This has led to some conflict regarding the rear driveshaft compatibility, as in I see some resources that indicate that the same part is interchangeable with 6cyl and 4cyl and some that say they aren't. For instance the following is written as compatible:

    4 RUNNER 96-00 4x4, 4 cyl, Manual
    4 RUNNER 96-98 4x4, 6 cyl, Automatic
    4 RUNNER 99-00 4x4, 6 cyl, Automatic, SR5

Other sources say the 4cyl Manual driveshaft cant interchange with any other engine or transmission setups.

Anyone have a way to confirm this?

    Thanks.

Just an FYI in case anyone else needs to look this up in the future:

1999 4cyl manual transmission 4runner driveshaft according to the Toyota dealership is not interchangeable with any other model even though a number of sources say they are. Toyota sells them in my area for $830.

Did you call those guys in Springfield Mo? I can almost bet they will be much cheaper even with shipping bud.

I can also hook you up with one. Just shoot me your VIN, and I'll shoot you a price.

Unfortunately most shops are closed on the weekends so I have no way to contact them for another 8-12 weeks. The Toyota dealership in town will answer phone calls on Saturdays so I had to go that route or wait months for the repair.

For an even 2k they will tow it in, fix it and drop it off at my house.

Thanks for the info guys, I will hang onto it and when I need repairs in the future I will make contact.
