    Newbie here....
I live in North Dallas and it gets rather warm here in the summer months. To put it mildly...
I have an appointment to tint my windows. The best shop around here uses Llumar Ceramic tint.
I was thinking about getting a clear tint on the front windshield?
My question really is about tinting the sunroof with ceramic tint. Has anyone else done this?
    Thanks!

According to my tint shop crystalline is better than ceramic tints.

I only did front 2 glasses and windshield. (I think I paid around $400 for that.) Now I think I should have gone with a little darker ones for all glasses.

For windshield they recommended CR70 (70% light pass through) but I'm glad I used CR90 (90% light pass through). CR70 would have reduce visibility at night in rural roads. We normally return home late so night visibility is important.

I did ceramic on all the windows except the windshield and sunroof. I don't notice any heat difference between regular tint I had on my Jeep and the ceramic I have now. In Texas it still gets brutally hot here.

Every piece of glass on my V car was tinted with ceramic(6 years ago). Roof, windshield, sides and back. From my experience you will not notice any heat reduction, but it will block harmful UV rays, which in turn, slows interior deterioration. The glare reduction also makes for a more comfortable driving experience. fwiw

According to specs Ceremic tint needs to go much darker to match the Crystalline tint. I don't know "as per specs". Also 3M Crystalline installation is not available in all tint shops. Only the shops certified as "3M Crystalline Preferred" can install Crystalline as per the shop.

I just got Crystalline installed on my 4Runner on Saturday. I went with 20% on all rear windows and 40% on the front two. I want to the windshield done eventually. It looks great but most importantly, it is keeping the interior nice and cool. It was warm here in LA yesterday and it felt comfortable inside. Also, my arm didn’t feel like it was cooking while I am driving.

Did my fronts in 20% and the moon roof to 5% with their best ceramic. The roof cut the glare.

i wanted to do 20% up front but was worried it’d be too dark, especially out here in California. I want to do the moonroof also but hear that tint can cause the glass to crack. I don’t know if that’s true or not.

Some places will tint roof glass, some won't. Whatever tint you go with, nothing beats covered parking for keeping the interior cool. A good quality ceramic does help to slow the interior from heating up, but if you leave it in the sun all day it will be an oven.

I went with Autobahn i3. It works well here in the Vegas heat. 33% front door windows, 40% privacy glass, and 75% (clear) on the windshield.

Did my '13 in 5% with no problems, but didn't have it that long after. The '19 has been two and a half years with no problems. FWIW, short time I know.

I had the dealership do the front side windows when I bought it. I'm sure it's probably the cheap stuff but they did a very nice job and it helps in the summer.

You can tell a difference if you roll the window down while the suns shining on you, the sun feels much warmer with the window down.

I have only one complaint/concern about the front side window tint. We have a lot of drivers in our area that drive at night with their headlights off. Either by choice or they don't know how to turn their lights on. This is one of the reasons I don't like automation, it dumbs people down.

Anyway, when I have to turn onto a roadway at night without a street light, I roll my window down to try and see if any cars are coming so I don't turn in front of them.

I have that problem with polarized sun glasses, sometimes I can’t see if someone is looking towards me or what, trying to pull out, also I can’t see my screen with polarized lenses.

That's why polarized sunglasses are a big no no in aviation. You can't see the electronic flight displays which is ungood. ;)

Polarized glasses were intended for water sports, at least that's my understanding.

Yes it does create a glare on the inside wheee you can’t see very well out the window. I lean up and look out the front side into the turn.
