I have had my 91 4 runner 3.0 for 5 years now and this has been a off and on problem that I cant figure out. Yesterday it would not start I waited about 20 minutes tried again and it would start right up. I went and ran couple errands around town and no problems. A couple hours later i was going to leave for work again it would crank but no start. When I got home at 2200 again would crank and no start. I got up this morning to try and trouble shoot it cranked and started right up. When I get the crank and no start I smell fuel getting to the motor so I ruled out fuel issues. During all of this time no engine codes. Because of this problem over the last 2 years I have already replaced the coil spark plugs wires alternator and the battery. Any help would be appreciated.

You should read my check engine thread. Electronics in distributor, possibility.

The next time it doesn’t fire right up, continue to crank it for 10-15 seconds. Pull the plugs, if they are wet with fuel it is a fuel issue, too rich.
