Getting closer to running the 1/0 power wire for my new audio system. Installed the Group 31 Odyssey and picked up these 6 terminal solid copper battery terminals for all connections now and later. Not sure where I am going to mount the main fuse yet.

Are stud terminals an option with Odyssey or is that how they come?

Looks very pretty, but makes me think about when the box wrench drops on it.

Good point. I think I will whip up some sort of cover out of some 1/8 ABS sheet. Had not thought that far ahead.

That will work. Big shrink tubing, Scotch 88 tape or pipe insulation wrap, anything. I've done too much damage this way myself, but then I have lived off of big big lead acid batteries for a few decades.

How does the factory alternator work with the group 31? I’m thinking of doing one soon.

I think a stock alternator is fine with a group 31 AGM. I do think that a voltage booster couldn't hurt as AGM batteries need around 14.7 volts or so the literature says.
I swapped out my alternator recently and added a second group 34 battery connected by a blue sea ML ACR. my car stereo seems happy too, no more light dimming.

The stock alternator works fine to charge the AGM batteries. You will need to top it off though with a charger or solar panel from time to time. The battery with the OEM alt only charges the battery to like 95% or something.

If you OV Tune the runner (once it gets released, unless it is) you can adjust the alternator setting to make it charge an AGM battery to 100%. The alternator output is computer controlled on Toyota’s.

Does it require a new tray? Or can you use the factory?

In a Tacoma you can fit the battery in the factory tray. I’m sure it’s the same in the runners.

I had to get a tray that would fit the length of the group 31 odyssey which is 13" long and requires longer j hooks as well. I just ordered a generic battery tray off Amazon and longer j hooks and a battery hold down clamp. I think that all together it was like $50. I suppose you could put a group 31 battery on a OEM tray but it does not fit in the tray.
