Does anyone know if a wireless charger pad providing power to your phone will allow CarPlay to connect to a 2021 unit wirelessly?

A wireless charger doesn't transmit data. So if the question is if you can substitute a lightning to USB cable for a wireless charger plugged into USB - the answer would unfortunately be no. That is assuming of course that you don't have wireless carplay on your headunit.

If you have wireless carplay now... and are asking if it can connect to carplay while on a wireless charger; then the answer is yes. It can charge (via cable or wireless charger) and still connect to wireless carplay.

They don’t have wireless charging, but i wondered if you plug in a Qi style charging pad, if that would allow the Bluetooth to carry the data to run CarPlay wirelessly?

It has wireless Bluetooth for audio or phone wireless play, but not CarPlay. I was thinking that CarPlay won’t work wirelessly without power because it would drain the phone. But, if you place it on a charging pad, would that allow CarPlay to work wirelessly?
The question stems from a recent Tahoe and Expedition rental experience where each had wireless CarPlay with wireless charging built in. It was slick and really convenient.

Just saw an article on MacRumors about a Mitsubishi, Honda, and Hyundai being some of the first factory vehicles with Wireless CarPlay for 2022 models. Based on the below, the vehicle needs both bluetooth and wifi for the function work, which the 2021 T4R's have, so it could be a software update that Toyota provides at some point but for now the only option to do wireless CarPlay would be the dongle linked above. The next iPhone however is rumored to be wireless charging only with no lightning port, so that will force some changes from automakers as well. Screenshot or article below.

I dont think so. You cant connect your phone via wifi to the 4R, as in the 4R is an access point.

Funny part is BMW has this and after 3 years you have to pay yearly to be able to use it :)
