Well, after everything fell apart on me regarding the 4Runner ORP I had ordered, I started looking around at some other dealerships and did some thinking about what I was really after... Enter my new beast:
    PXL_20210306_230544329~2.jpg PXL_20210306_231610609~2.jpg

Bit of a downgrade from an ORP, but, I am incredibly happy with this '21 SR5 Premium. Looking forward to getting some of the mods I've bought put on it on it as well as some General Grabber ATXs.

Not a downgrade at all! You can mod the hell out of it with all the cash you saved.

Congrats, and enjoy your NEW Runner!

Thanks all! Sadly, it was not. With the options on it, and having the dealership put a ceramic coat on it came to about $43k all told.

Tomorrow it's time to start adding some simple mods...Starting with some NFab steps. My Wife already hates trying to get into and out the vehicle so, she would really like for me to get those on ASAP. *laughs*

*laughs* Probably not, she hates those things. Actually, she's more than happy to lay claim to my 2017 Patriot. She had a '12 Patriot that we traded in for the 4Runner today, and she's incredibly glad we did as it ended up having some worse problems going on with it than we even knew about. Some stuff we'd even had checked out shortly after buying it and were told it was normal! So, I'm glad that she finally talked me into trading her Jeep as opposed to mine.

I can understand your initial thoughts of thinking it is a downgrade from the off-road edition. But let’s be honest. Your paying about $6-$10k more for the ORP or TRD Pro. I took that savings and put that into my SR5 Premium and here is what I got done for $8k:
    - Real skid plates that cover the engine, Transmission, and transfer case
    - Westcott design Rock sliders
    - Gobi roof rack
    - Ironman suspension & winch & recovery gear
    - new steel front bumper by lil b’s custom fab
    - new hybrid beadlock rims by rrw racing

I am getting a few more goodies such as the regear, bigger tires, front and rear lockers but that put me over the $8k mark but my vehicle will be way better off then a TRD pro stock and yes I have a few more into it but honestly some of those items you would probably get if you bought a ORP or a TRD pro (ie: skid plate for the transmission and transfer case).

For those who bought the TRD pro or ORP I am not bashing or talking down. Just simply saying that I knew I wanted all those parts changed out and I feel that it was a better choice for me. I really like the terrain management that the ORP offer and the stock rear locker, and physical shifting knob versus electronic transfer case switch on my 4Runner. Plus I need the 3rd row seat so those weren’t an option anyway.

I think you have a nice looking vehicle that you can make your own for what you need with the savings you had over the ORP.

    Welcome.

Your SR5 is quite capable and even more so with a good set of tires. If you find yourself needing or wanting more, plenty of aftermarket locker options (e, air, lunchbox) out there to choose from.

Congrats on the new truck! It sounds like you are about to customize it to an ORP anyways so no worries there. As for the ceramic coating, that is an excellent investment. I had that installed on a car I bought last year and it is worth every penny!
