What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Wired up the light bar and installed the bumper support brackets.

 

Do you like it better? I have the matte white on my hood now. Wasn’t sure if I’d be happy with the look.

 

I do. To me the matte white was off enough on the super white to notice. Not from afar but behind the wheel it bothered me.

 

I think the KDSS corrects the lean?

 

I have KDSS and had to use a 1/4” spacer up front and 3/4” spacer in the rear of the passenger side to correct the lean with a 2.5” lift

 

When you get KDSS lean problem can't you take it to a shop and recalibrate KDSS from the valves under the body on driver side? (Without using spacers? )
Wonder how much dealership would ask for the fix?

You reset the level to resolve issues caused by lifting the vehicle-changes in wheel size/level usually means you need to reset VSC. The way I understand it, KDSS is also sensitive to lift and if you lift more than about 2.5", you may end up with issues. I would think it also benefits from accurate level for adjustment of the sway bar.

 

That won’t fix the issue from what I’ve read.

 

It’s weird. Some do, some don’t. I put the exact same lift kit on my buddy’s 2013 GX 460 and he’s got no lean. My 2017 had the lean right after I flexed it while wheeling

 

Didn’t work for me. I tried a dozen times and only got the front within 1/4” but the rear stayed at 3/4” gap

 

Strange, worked for me after I put my lift on. I'm 24" from center of hub to fender in the rear and 21.75" in the front on both sides.

KDSS lean is generally worse than non KDSS lean especially with a lift. There is a calibration procedure that can be done and it does correct the majority of the lean. I'm a dealer for Cornfed Suspension, I sold a kit to someone with KDSS and she said her 4Runner felt very unstable after install, like she was on a cruise ship. I told her about the recalibration and she messaged back saying once she was done, it felt better than it did when it was stock. I have never personally done the calibration and she was the only one to ever have that complaint so I guess it's rare but it does happen.

 

Installed ICON Rebound Bronze 17x8.5. Wanted to be different from the common black and grey wheels.

 

By calibration do you mean perform the steps in the video above? Or is this something you’d have to take to he dealership?

Ok I thought so. Ya I’ve done it a dozen times and the ride is amazing it just didn’t correct the lean. So spacers and calibration worked for me haha. I’ll just order coilovers for the front to adjust ride height as need.

 

The side to side lean should fix with opening the kdss valve (not always) the front "rake" is a different story

 

I chose the rake up front. I tow a trailer and carry a lot of gear so I needed the rear higher

 

Im a rake fan as well. Not as much as factory but somewhere in-between.

 

Looks awesome! Mine isn’t as bad as my picture. It’s a sloped driveway and makes it look worse.

 

As of today I am scheduled for getting my 4Runner regeared to 4.88 with ARB front and rear air lockers

 

Next week, I'm doing the same with my Taco. Pretty stoked. I will be going with electric lockers.

 

Rav 4 mirror MOD. They should include these stock.
