On me yesterday :) ! How it all started. I won some items at an auction last Sunday, one of them being a new living room couch and loveseat. I called a friend and asked him to help me go pick it up and that included putting the trailer on the 4 runner.

My friend has a Ford Ranger, I thought it had some sort of issue but John says nope let’s just use my truck...Ok cool beans man. He’s had this truck a long time. Just a few days earlier I was telling him about pick a part is setting up notifications deal on the website and soon you can put in your make and model and will get alerts when whatever that may be hits the yard. A Very Cool feature !

So he comes over, and the tailgate handle is broken and the gate hit won’t come down, I’m like John you still haven’t fixed this ? In how long ? Damn man. So we go get the furniture, all goes well.

He calls me yesterday and asks if I want to go look at pic a part, I’m like sure. He’s not a computer guy, I’ve tried. I say let me look and see what they have in the yard. His is a 2005 Ranger. I look and they have like 3 trucks in his model range and maybe we can find what you need to rebuild your tail gate guts.

So off we go, find a 2002 Ranger, exact same color with a beautiful white tailgate. I’m like a John take the whole thing ! He says you wanna go look at the 4 runners before we take the guts out. I’m like no, everything has been here since the first of the year and probably stripped to the bone.

He talks me into it, we walk up and holy moly just from a distance you can see the 4 runners are shells, we walk into the row and there’s a 1994 gold 4x4 4Runner, looks thrashed as hell. I tell John about the triangle part that covers the drivers side mirror bolts and how I’ve been looking since 2014 for one, never seen them on eBay-Amazon etc etc.

I open the drivers side door, what’s left of it anyway....and there on the floor ! There it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy shit !!!!!!! 7 years and countless trips !!!!!! I have it in my hands !!!!!!!!! Holy shit !!!!!! Hahahahaha ;).

I also needed the right rear tail light lense assembly. Which you guys know is impossible to get unless the rear window is down, and they are never down.

Well here it is, a nice eagle eyes assembly just sitting there, bolts out and ready to pull in perfect condition ! No tools needed. Holy shit !!!!! The last part needed !!!!!!!

I looked up to the sky and Thanked the cosmos for such a great score !!!!! God and the heavens were truly aligned yesterday !!!!

Of course we went back down and got everything needed to bring the Rangers tailgate back to an operational condition.

Silly I know, but such a great Victory ! The Gods truly smiled on me yesterday. Thank you !

With everything going on lately, this small little deal was such a moral booster......dang it.

Nice! Once in awhile you get lucky. I used to love going to boneyards with my buddies. I once bought an '87 MR2 that didn't run, which is never a good idea. We figured out that it needed an ignitor, which was a dealer part and a few hundred $$. I found one at a salvage yard for maybe $20 and got it running.

The pic a part yards here are paved now so it makes it really nice, and with cooler weather it’s a joy to mossy around ya know. And like you say if you’ve got the older Gen 4runner, parts are way cheaper for body stuff, interior parts etc than the Internet places.

I also repainted my stripes so she’s looking good, running perfect.
