    Good evening everyone.

Started reading and doing some searches. Ran into a block on this one. Cant get a definitive answer in my searches. I just bought my new boy A 2002 4x4 LTD. Will be used for daily once complete and fishing (always fishing, did I mention fishing?)....

Drove 3 hours back from buying it to Orlando as I suspected.... with my back... front seats have to be changed before anything else. Back pain by the time I got home. What seats have you replaced your Gen 3 for comfort reasons?

I have chronic low back pain, that has gotten better with exercise and diet. But I want to keep it under control. Any suggestions for more comfortable seats?

    Thanks for the help
    Gabe

You can get replacement seat foam from Toyota. My front seat bottom is way cushier now and my legs don't tire as bad.

    An option maybe?

Interesting. So a newer seat could just solve the problem.... OEM. Didn't think of that. Thank you.

Well, after 20 years, the foam deteriorates badly and becomes compressed/crushed and starts to flake away.

I would say that nearly all driver side 4Runner seats are pretty shot at this point and no good for a bad back or long trips.

I bought the bottom foam from Toyota, removed my old upholstery and swapped it in. You need hog ring plyers and clips is all. There are a few spring loaded hand knobs that are annoying to get to release. It helped me but not sure how much it could help you.

Maybe see if 4th gen or 5th gen seats will swap in? Those would be newer and maybe better.

5th gen seats in a 3rd gen?? Heck yeah! Sounds amazing. If somebody figures out how to do this swap lemme know!

On a quick search it seems like none are a direct fit. A bit of "persuasion" is needed for 4th gens and I haven't seen anyone attempt 5th gens. Probably better to consider aftermarket that is a direct fit if you don't want to redo the cushion foam like I did.
