    For a 2000 4Runner.

    VIP Security System, Kit, RS3200+
    Toyota Part No.: 08585-35840

Cannot find anywhere, new or used. Discontinued. Can't remember the last time the internet failed me. Thoughts on pulling from a junkyard? Can find the kit on eBay for a 2000 Camry: https://www.ebay.com/p/664533442. Might it work or easily be modified to work on a 2000 4Runner?

    Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

Are you trying to fix one you have installed? Do you need the whole kit? Probably Toyota used the same modules for all their systems in that time period. So buying the ebay one, may work, if the modules look identical to what you already have. Different part numbers are probably due to mounting and length of wiring, not the modules.

If you're looking to add it? Why? A cut off switch for the fuel pump would be my first go to.

Thanks. Looking to install from scratch; my 4Runner did not come with it. I like the kit because it integrates with the existing remote locks, etc. Your fuel-pump cutoff is a great idea. Thanks again.

The problem is, that these security systems become ticking time bombs. They go south and now you can't start your car. They are 20 years old and won't last forever.

There is a fuel pump power wire (Blue w/Orange Stripe I believe) that runs from the dash under the driver's side sill plate into the rear seat area. Put a 20A switch inline with that and hide it somewhere (under the dash, under the driver seat...run it to the console, etc). Just get a 20A switch so you don't need a relay. I think I'm going to do this at some point. Car will crank but never start.
