Absolutely. And "idk" is a valid answer-especially now. Of course, I expect my idk to come with at least some kind of explanation.

I'm sure shopping by phone, email or a dealers website didn't help any. The few phone messages I left for GM's or sales managers at different dealerships were never returned. What can I say >COVID ya know.

THIS IS WHAT EVERY DEALER CAN SEE in their system. the "A" is allocation the "G" is on ground at dealer "F" is freight. The newer salesman might not have access but I wouldn't sell without it. All dealerships have this application.

    Hope this helps someone

Thanks! Great info! My Pro is supposed to hit the US this week. These screens look like what my salesman has been sending me. Now I have to wait for transit time to dealer. I ordered it back in the middle of November but had to wait for them to be allocated a Lunar Rock one. Thanks again for all of the good info.

Hi guys just signed up to say thanks for this thread.... I have a res in for a new bronco and have been eyeing 4Runners, over on the bronco forum their have been a few dealers super transparent on everything and I’ve learned more about buying a car that I ever knew. Happy to see someone from the Toyota world sharing information as well as I try to talk my wife into letting me get a venture instead of a bronco

I had a Bronco Reservation as well. Once I configured the Wildtrac it was 10K more than the Venture, with no real timeline for delivery (and it was a Ford) so I am now a very happy Venture owner.

    Good luck with the wife!

She’s a funny gal loves the idea of the roof and doors coming off but will complain about the wind the moment I do it. Meanwhile I am up to 225k on my xj with no major work and want something as reliable and can see myself opening the sunroof a lot more than popping the roof off.... now only to find something that makes me feel as good as grangers 2k off invoice deal if n a 4Runner

    @RUBICON4RUNNER
I have had this question since we bought our 4runner 2yrs ago. It is actually warm (50°) today for the first time in a long time so I opened the sunroof.
Why does the auto open only open the sunroof 99% of the way? After it stops it can be opened another inch maybe...
I have found no noise difference between the two @ highway speeds.
Am I the only one that has this? :notsure:
    Thanks for any insight,
    Ryan.

I find it annoying. My wife's VW GTI does this also.

Must be some weird reason they do this.

They do it as a preventative maintenance measure. Every fall we have an on slot of sunroof issues and 99% of the time its acorns, leaves, sticks that jam up the slides in the sunroof. The extra space provides a buffer so the motor doesn't jam up or the slides don't get bent from debre at the end of the track. The sunroof distance can be adjusted at your dealer by a master tech.

The manual says it stops short of fully opening to minimize wind noise. If all the windows are up the difference in wind noise between mostly open versus fully open is little more evident. With the windows and back windows down it's less obvious.

This is the correct answer, it’s not in any way maintenance related.

There is an initialization process when the vehicle is being prepped where you push the back button then push and hold the back button in for a few seconds to get to the sunroof in the correct position. It is possible to do it wrong. WHEN WE HAVE TO CLEAN YOUR DEBREE OUT OF YOUR CAR WE USE THIS PROCESS TO STOP THE SUNROOF IN VARIOUS PLACES TO clean your car. Check with your dealer to see if it was done correctly.

The initialization is for the pinch protection so it can auto close.

That seems like a lot of work to open the sunroof to various positions. Just tap the open button and it'll move a little. Or let it auto-open and tap the close button to stop it where you please.

Thanks for taking the time to answer questions.

The 5th Gen owner manual lists these two fluids for the transfer case and differentials.

    Transfer case:
Toyota Genuine Transfer gear oil LF SAE 75W

    Differentials:
Toyota Genuine Differential gear oil LT 75W-85 GL-5
