First post from a newbie so pardon the dumb question, but:

was trying to get out of some mud in 4lo first gear with the rear diff locked on my 5th gen off road. Forgot to upshift afterwards and noticed that I got up to 10-15mph before the transfer box whine was loud enough to alert me. Just wondering if that possibly damaged the tbox. Should I be concerned about over revving the engine? Not even sure how I was able to manage that speed under such low gearing.

^Thanks! Was too quick to say I'm not concerned about over revving, and maybe I missed bouncing off the limiter because the road was bumpy. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I'm not even sure how I could hit 12mph in 1st gear lo range.

My only comment would be to try and keep an eye on the tach. Sometimes we just get caught up in the moment. Lol

Here's a helpful tip. Set the vehicle in S2 mode, take off, allow it to shift to 2nd, then really open it up if you want to get up to 10 - 15
