For some of our older beloved vehicles, Emission testing, can be a pain in the rear end...especially if you're out in California..In Memphis, (TN) they have suspended such testing for the time being..However, with the democrats back in, it could come back. years ago, one had to get their vehicle thru testing...or you did not get new tags...a work-a-round, was to get antique tags for the vehicle in question...newer vehicles, still had to pass....I remember in years pass, I had to deal with getting my MG Midget ('65) '87 Pontiac Fiero, and '89 Isuzu Trooper thru...nowdays, I simply just get new tags for the Fiero and Trooper...as the midget is long gone...my '97 limited, runs like a top..so in the event that Emissions testing comes back, it shouldn't be a problem...squeaking thru....

My 4R has been tested 12 times and I’m done.... As of March 1st, will have three antique vehicles, and two antique motorcycles, all running like new. And a current registered emission tested vehicle to drive to work...

I know motorcycles don’t get tested but the “sound” emissions are regulated...A few years ago a bike red-lined his engine next to a horseback rider and it threw him off...

And I have a 2007 SandRail, that DMV sent two investigators out for and they riveted a VIN on it. Then went to DEQ and got an emissions waiver issued..,,

I got my 4runner smogged in California. It was a 49 state vehicle meaning it wasn't made to pass California emissions, but it passed first time. If your emissions equipment is intact and everything has been maintained you should be fine. Sometimes there are restrictions on antique tags, like you cant drive your vehicle x number of miles in a year. Varies from state to state so check your laws.
