Unfortunately, this is a scene that keeps playing out at dealerships across the country more and more it seems. I used one of the local Toyota dealerships for 6 years for maintenance visits when I bought a new TRD Off Road Tacoma in 2013, and even got the extended service package when purchased new. During that time, I experienced dinged alloy rims from tire rotations, paint dings from who knows what, returned vehicle with radio blasting on some station I never used, A/C on full blast, seat all the way back, tire rotations done when I specifically asked them not to, washed vehicle when I requested not to, and the crowning glory was an oil filler cap left on the driver side of an engine compartment, not on the valve cover, for 3 months, when I discovered it upon inspecting the brake fluid...

Now, if any of those things don't bother you, and FREE is all you care about, by all means, go ahead and take advantage of the Toyota(duzn't)Care and go happily on your way.

The Tacoma had the easiest oil change on the planet, but the 4R requires the removal of the skid plate, unless you have an aftermarket with a removable access door, and has the filter insert and such, and I decided I'd rather pay a trusted, competent mechanic instead of a Toyota service department trainee for my T4R oil changes. YMMV

The problem is that these things aren't free. I paid for them when I bought my Toyota, under the guise that they added value. How was I to know that Toyota service was trash when compared to the competition? I should have done more research, I suppose. Never woulda thought, with all the love for Toyota out there. BMW was one of the first manufacturers, I believe, to include standard maintenance with their vehicles.. but their service didn't go into the shitter at the same time, like it apparently did with Toyota. I'll certainly be voicing my opinion to potential Toyota adopters.

DEALERS GET PAID BY WARRANTY COMPANIES THE SAME AS IF THE CUSTOMER IS PAYING. I doubt the dealer would risk loosing a customer for nothing if they were being replaced no matter who paid. something sounds real fishy..

OP Were the rims discolored from the heat? Did the dealer send you pictures of the damaged rotors, pads, calipers? These are items a warranty company would need to deny a claim on such a low mileage vehicle.

Send me your vin number I'll get to the bottom of this in a couple hours. By sending me your VIN you give up all rights to Animity in regards to your vehicle condition, service and job in question. Your personal information will never be shared.

^ Third party companies, MAYBE.. but Toyota? Hell no they don't. That's why dealers traditionally don't like doing warranty work.. they cannot charge the manufacturer what they can charge the walk-in customer. Unfortunately, though, Toyota dealers seem to practice this prejudice more extremely than others.. at least from my personal findings so far.

Toyota Warranty would have paid seven hours labor for calipers, rotors, pads, shim, and fit kits on a job like this. Parts via Toyota warranty cannot be marked up or down. We use alldata (third party) to calculate labor.

Toyota dealers are individually owned and operated so customer service will vary at different dealers.

Just out of curiosity did they change your oil for the first service or just rotate tires? I only have 2000 miles on my new one and scheduled to go in April for my first "free" service. If they wont' change the oil I really don't want to spend a day waiting for them to rotate my tires. I can do that on my own.

They will not change your oil during your first 5,000 mile service for free, despite it being listed as required under "Special Operating Conditions" if you drive within those. They will only do what is listed in the "normal" maintenance schedule, at the top of the page. I forced them to do my 10,000 mile service instead, which includes an oil change.. because I wanted it changed now at 5k. I don't plan on having it changed again until probably 13-14k, but wanted to remove the "break in" ish from the engine. I have no scientific data to back up my desire, it's just how I feel lol.

AT MY DEALERSHIP IF SOMEWANTS AN OIL CHANGE ON THEIR FIRST, third or fifth TOYOTA CARE WE ONLY CHARGE ( AT COST) FOR THE OIL AND FILTER- NO LABOR.
Toyota care is not created by the dealer but a good dealer will work with their customers.
    1. no oil
    2. oil & filter
    3. no oil
    4 oil& filter
    5. no oil
    6. customer responsibility.
