How many inches of lift do I need to fit 285/70/17 wheels?

Looking to purchase the Bilstein 5100.

This is my everyday driver car, and I don't do much heavy offroading, so this sounded like the best option for me.

With the 5100, do you know how high I have to lift it in order to fit 285 size tires without rub?

Lift isn't the problem. More front to back.

Depending on wheel choice as well.

Zero, just need some good wheel specs and some minor wheel well adjustments!

Got it, thanks. So I'm guessing i'll be just fine with any (or none) lift with the 5100.

I am running Ironman fcp stage 2 and 285s on stock TRDOP wheels. I have not had to do any trimming - anywhere. I will say that wheel choice and tires matter as much as a lift - as mentioned above. Some tires run bigger and some smaller. KO2s run on smaller side. But, even then - there is no way they’d clear without a lift. See for yourself.

I had to trim front a little and used 2 inch spacer up front.

Bigger A/T LT Tires, Slight Lift, Sliders, Rack, Lights, etc.
While it might technically be possible to run a ~33" tire (285/70 or 255/80) without a lift.. why would you? A lift helps the 4Runner with clearance, just like tires do. Also, it will look dumb. BMW wheel gap on a 4Runner.. lol. The larger tires are bigger and therefore lift the truck while also "taking up" more of the wheel-well.

They also help in rolling over objects and holes, just helps smooth things out a little bit.

285/70/17 Nitto Terra Graplers without lift and stock suspension with KDSS. No issues and only small front inner well liner rub at full lock reversing.

OTOH, I think big lift with small tires looks silly.

While I am not trying to squeeze in 285's at stock height, I am on 295's with only 2.4/1.5" lift.

This, too! Aside from making big bumps feel smaller, the added footprint can help with flotation.

Those TRD fake beadlocks are nice! I was checking those out when I had the Taco.

They're rare as hens teeth. I've tried buying a set for MSRP through Toyota - they won't sell them unless you provide a VIN of a vehicle that came with them. Same goes with the the internet sellers - even though they advertise them as "In Stock." They're not.

    Have you checked here?

Also, try another dealership, if you haven't already. I've heard some are easier to work with than others

Found a pic. Do not why they show a 5 lug for a 17 runner.

I actually purchased a set from BAM. I got an e-mail several days later asking me for my VIN. I sent it to them, then I got an e-mail form them telling me Toyota will not sell them to me. I called my local dealer who said the local Toyota warehouse has 7 in stock. They will only sell 1 at a time and only with my VIN and a photo of the damaged wheel. It's crazy. I have searched far and wide and can't find a 4Runner that ever came with these OEM. I finally gave up and found a set of my phone dial Trail wheels. I will try that site out. I'd love to have a set.

**Edit - those fake beadlocks on that site are for the FJ and are 16". Oh well -d I need to try other dealerships.
