Hi All, I've got a 2002 SR5 in really good shape with only 165,000 miles. My problem is over the past year my chrome bumpers, front and rear have gotten quite a bit of rust. Part of me says to not worry about it, it's a 19 year old truck but then I wonder if it's a big cost to get a set from a junkyard and if it's really even worth it. Any help is appreciated.

I've done this, well I replaced the base level gray bumpers with the chrome ones. I paid 100$ for the front one in relatively good condition. I sanded the rust off the back and painted it afterwards. Its a relatively simple operation and in my opinion worth it if you like the look of the stock bumpers.

The only thing I would cation you about is that there is sometimes a small piece trim that attaches to the bumper. You can see it in this photo it is along the front of the wheel well on the bumper. All non-limited (might be wrong on year) 4runners before 2000 lacked the mounting holes that you would need to fit the trim. So be careful that the chrome bumper you get has those holes if you need them, or doesn't have them if you don't have the trim (because then you will have 2 holes in the side of the bumper for no reason).

You can just drill those holes if you need to. I popped a guy by accident and just dented the front bumper. Got a cheapo ebay chrome replacement and just drilled the holes where needed.
