What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Finally got the DOM carrier. To paint or to powdercoat. That is the question

 

Personally on a nice rig if you can get a good deal on power coating do it. If not then I personally would get the truck bed liner stuff put on it.

 

Looks good. This is the one I want as well. I think powder coating will last a long time and you shouldn’t see much damage on the back. Will be worth the pc’ing imo.

 

I ran the wiring for my S2 ditch lights tonight. Just waiting on the hood brackets to arrive so I can mount.

 

Installed the Ironman 4x4 awning quick disconnects. I will be honest that I thought for $90 they would be made of metal. Granted they are a high strength UV stable reinforced nylon.

 

What's the coil wire for. Looks like barbed wire to keep critters out

Damn nail in the sidewall. Don’t even think these tires have 10k on them. At discount tire now. Carry a plug kit if you don’t already. They’re cheap!

 

Using the spare tire is easy right? So you don't mess with you tire and let the tire shop fix it properly.

It takes 30 seconds to plug it. And there is no fixing a sidewall puncture.

Oops.. so far I haven't used mine. I used the spare tire when I had a nail on mine. Lucky it was on main tread so it was an easy fix. My tire repair kit still new. LOL.

 

Nail? Yo thats a bolt! Good it was repairable homie! (Crazy)

 

This tire is done. A puncture in the sidewall is something most shops wouldn't repair. I'd put the spare on and get a new tire.

why don’t you call Falken and ask them if that screw was in a safe, repairable condition. Plugs may get you out of the middle of nowhere, but RMA patches are the only safe way to fix a tire. If there’s not any belt package on both sides of the puncture, the tire isn’t safe to repair. Run at your own risk. The tire would cost you less than the damage from that tire exploding will

 

What is ceramic tint?

 

With this pandemic shit going on, we went camping. One person one car one tent. I’m sleeping in my runner. -17C last night. That’s about 1F. With windchill, about -20F. Woke up with ice inside the windows and seats. Water jug fully frozen. Still worth it.

Offers the best heat, UV, and glare resistance. It's expensive but makes a difference. I did my Civic with ceramic and is reasonably cool in the summer. I can't say it's more robust but that is one of its claims. Ceramic tint uses titanium nitride within the film, so not too much different though a part of why it's supposed to be so good is because titanium nitride so shouldn't change color or degrade over time. The claim also says it's more effective than dies or metallic tints in blocking UV and IR.
