Running Boards - too narrow

Just purchased 2021 Limited and had the optional fixed running boards installed. This is my fourth 4 Runner Limited since 1990. Each had running boards included. The problem with these new running boards is they are too narrow. Slide right off getting out of the vehicle and very little room for your foot when stepping up. Also if you are trying to access the roof it is very difficult since not enough room for your feet. I contacted Toyota and the dealer and they are looking into this.

 

I'm curious why you bought them if they are too small for you to use? What is Toyota and the dealer looking into with the boards? Welcome to the jungle!

 

Because my last 3 4Runners had running boards and no issue with the width. Apparently, they either made the running boards narrower or the truck got wider.
