8" lift

    interior headliner so far
    I'm trying to figure out how I can get a 5" lift and finish it out with a 3" body lift. I want to clear 40" tires and have them not look tucked any help would be great. what could I use. and can I use a Tacoma lift for my 1998 Toyota 4runner.

    Are you planning on offroading? I've heard from many different sources that after 35" tires and a 3" lift, the articulation off-road becomes worse. Also you are more likely to tip.

    what would be your opinion on what I should do. so a three inch with 35's would be best?

    I have a 2.5" lift up front and 1.5" in the rear. I can clear 34" tires no problem in my 5th gen. If I trimmed more, I could clear 35's.

    Also, when thinking about what set up you need, there is no way you can run 40s without re-gearing. It is recommended after 33's and I notice a very big power loss with my 34's.

    I would say, regear, 35's on a 3" lift is the best possible wheeling set up for these rigs.

    A 3" lift with a 1" or 2" body lift will allow you to clear 35's on your 3rd Gen. With 35's you will notice a pretty good power loss, which is why I am sticking with just 33's.

    99 T4R LTD- 33's and locked, 01 SR5-,SAS Sold...
    A few things here and there. Still dreaming up stuff
    A 3rd Gen on 33's locked up is the best combo I feel of them. They just work better than 35's and break allot less shit that one with 35's.

    Now if your like me I like my 37's on my 3rd Gen :ohsnap:

    You have a SAS that's cheating lol. 33's w/E-locker should get me threw 95% of the trails in CO.

    I want a locker. The A-Trac in 4Lo gets me through pretty much anything though.

    The A-trac is like their cheat for a locker. Aussie makes cheap but high quality lockers, but gotta love having selectable lockers though.

    A-Trac is like a 50% locker without the weight. I'm yet to come across something I can't make it up though.

    I feel like getting up and over obstacles is mostly tires and driver. This is the first truck I have had that has a locker, and I have only been so stuck I had to be pulled out once. And that one time was an accident and I didn't see a huge ravene at night and ended up with 2 tires in the in the air. Proper tires, tire pressure and picking good lines help a lot in not getting stuck.

    I've learned that if I take everything slow, I'll be good. No need to hit everything without looking haha.

    Exactly...this is also why I like not being the leader. I can see how the person in front is hitting the trail and I can plan out. This is my first time going with A/T tires so we will see how they do out here. I loved the BFG M/T's on my Jeep, they crawled over everything.

    Also hate being the leader because I feel pressured to go faster haha. Like hanging back and going at my pace.

    I had A/T II's on my Tacoma. Kicked ass. I love these M/Ts but I'll probably downgrade next tire change.

    I needed something that could handle the snow and ice better than M/T's so had to go with an A/T tire. Have been told A/T tires should be good in CO. Just more worried about rocks
