Hello, I’m a newbie. 2002 4RUNNER and 2004 Tacoma. I have 5 fresh BF Goodrich, KO2s on each truck. Both have matching alloy spare wheels. What do you think about a mileage routine for rotation to maximize even wear for the 5 tires? The tire guys say 3500, based on 4 tire sets. Thanx!

Welcome! I also do 5K intervals as that's when I change my oil. I had a set of KO2's for 29K miles and they had 80% of their original tread when I went to bigger tires. They're on a friend's truck now.

I don't rotate the spare in, but it's not a bad idea. Just pick a sequence and stick with it.

KO2's have a 50,000 mile tread life warranty, which is based on a set of 4 tires. A set of 5 should increase the expected lifecycle of the set to 62,500. An easy way to figure it out is to divide the expected lifecycle by 20 (5 tires x 4 complete cycles of rotations, such that each tire spends the same amount of miles at each corner). Rotating every 3,125 miles should maximize your set of 5.

And for reference, if you use a 4 tire rotation, divide the 50,000 mile expected lifecycle by 8 (4 tires x 2 corners, as these rotate front-to-back and back-to-front). Using a 4 tire rotation, you would want to rotate every 6,250 miles to maximize tread life.
