I'm about to order wires and plugs; looked at the buyers guide and got numbers.

Bosch 09444 or NGK 4412 or OEM 19037-62010 (now using -62050).

When I pull up the wire set it looks like there are three wires. do I need to order two sets? I get that the motor shares coil packs but this is new to me.

Yeah. OEM or OEM supplier only for these. There is literally nothing better.

The coil packs feed the plugs on the passenger side of the engine. The wires just go from each pack across to the driver side plugs.

Coil packs rarely go bad and are easy to diagnose and change if they do...so I don't recommend replacing those as the OEM ones are expensive and the aftermarkets are garbage.

Use Dielectric grease for all contacts too.

never seen a case where the coils are shared- That’s some trippy chit!

Uhhh....most cars used to have a single coil only.

You only need 1. But it's actually simpler if you add more.

I’m referring to this particular motor and coil setup, not all motors. But thanks for the history lesson.

Sorry these guys convinced you to spend an extra $40. NGK 4412s work great. But ya, its coil on plug for 3 cylinders, then extension wires to the other 3.

No problem. Your post said you've never seen a shared coil and I was kind of shocked as that's how all cars started.

Never used that brand before. Either NGK or Denso for my Japan made vehicles. They never failed me and the prices were right (rockauto.com).
