Looks like you can get a keypad lock on the 4Runner as an accessory. Sharing this video from ToyotaJeff, hope it will help anyone who is ordering a new 4Runner.

I wish I knew about this accessory.. :(

Cool but I wonder if it changes the price of replacing a windshield. With all the crap already on them it is getting silly expensive to replace what use to be a fairly inexpensive item.

^ Oh I'm sure it does, but that's what insurance is for. I do a low deductible for windshields alone.. driving on the interstate in the city wreaks havoc on mine. And with the extremely vertical windshield on the 4Runner, it's even worse. I already have a few chips after just a few months.. no cracks though fortunately.

The 4Runner we purchased just happens to have this accessory and I'm very happy. It is one of the few accessories I wanted.

With the keypad, camera, radar, whatever else the heck is going on up there... I feel compelled at this point to have my windshield replaced by the dealer only.

Thankfully in South Carolina, windshields are a zero deductible claim!
This would be a really helpful thing to have...I think specifically if I'm going for a quick hike or run, and don't want to carry a key.

But if you leave the key in the car and lock it with the keypad couldn't someone still open the car with the proximity of the key you left in the car? Just a thought.

Nah the car is "smart" enough to know that the key is inside, and not out.

These things are too "smart" IMO lol.. but at least it still lets me go in reverse with the door open so whatever.. I can get past it screaming at me like I'm an idiot every time I open my door, get out while it's running, etc...

"OMFG THE DOOR IS OPEN AND YOU'RE IN NEUTRAL AHHHHHHHH!!!"

Toyota should had intergraded the smart phone app so you could use your phone to unlock and lock the car

I like to have this key pad over a phone app so when I'm at any water activity I can leave the key and phone inside the car.
