I want to fix the clock in my 4runner. It started working briefly and for that short time I really liked having it. There is 1 video on fixing it where the person takes apart the clock and straightens out the spring contacts. I think my clock has the same issue, because the clock started working after I hit a bump on the freeway.

Has anyone taken apart their clock and fixed it?

Okay, I tried doing the fix depicted in the video yesterday and it did not work. I think there was something else wrong with my clock, like a cracked solder joint. Unfortunately, I don't feel like probing the circuit board with a multimeter on a part that cost me 40$ on ebay. I will just replace the whole unit. Don't go to Toyota for this part, they want over 200$ for it.

I don't think the video was BS. I also tried cleaning off the metal contacts in case it was dirt that was causing it to lose power, that also didn't fix the clock. So yeah, fuck, the clock in my 4runner is busted beyond repair and now I have to replace the whole thing.

From what I have run across...yeah...everyone just replaces the whole thing from a junkyard unit.

I bet a whole lotta Toyotas in that time period have that exact same clock.
