Off road family worthy trips in MA, NH, VT or Maine (not rock crawling)

    2018 4Runner Off Road Premium
    Hi - just bought a new 2018 4Runner - TRD Off Road. Looking to take family camping trips somewhere remote (not rock crawling). I am thinking class 2, 3 or 4 roads plus pond/lake + camping. I am in the Boston suburbs.
    Let me know if you have any suggestions.

    I recently purchased an ORP and have been on the hunt for decent road trips. Have to say, I’m not finding a wealth of information online about rougher 4x4 only roads in the NE. That said, Sandwich Notch Road in NH is on my list. And outer beach driving on cape cod. Nauset beach is another option on the cape. I believe there are some non-gated forest roads in the white forest, but I have yet to locate good info. Many appear to have gate restrictions. Bartlett Experimental Forest is another NH option too. Look up North Woods Overland on YouTube.

    I found this on Reddit:
    “Best trails in my opinion are the class 6 roads of pembroke. They also connect to the Range roads. Most common access is on buck st. Miles of off roading with easy and difficult terrain. The only downside is that it is closed until the end of May right now to vehicles over a ton I believe.”

    I then looked up that Pembroke area. The corner of church road and 4th range road looks like the entrance to a good trail. Pretty sure that’s the area referenced.
