Good morning all, I just recently bought a 2016 4Runner and I did my oil change yesterday evening. I bought the oil filter adapter that fits the housing, for removal and installation. My question is, when I was tightening the housing up; the little metal and plastic tab that is attached to the outside of the housing, broke off. I have a new housing. My question is what is the significance of that metal tab and will the housing still be ok, with that metal tab being broken?? Until I can change oil again and install the new housing. I ask because I already put oil in and there were no leaks. Some feedback please?? Thanks

Should be fine. I believe that metal tab was an extra precaution to ensure that the filter wouldn’t back out on its own... but it’s such a snug/tight fit as is, I don’t think that it would be a problem. I also don’t think the metal housing variant has the tab either.
