So I'm thinking about switching to a different tire. I'm running SL wildpeaks in factory size and after the 4 runner sits for a few hours If I take it on the highways I get a lot of shaking and shimmy in the wheel until they warm up. About 10 mins later they are smooth as butter! I don't think its a balance issue and shop says they are balanced. I have played with the PSI and while it helps a little I'm still having the issue. My commute to work every morning requires about 10 minutes on the highway and I'm just super sick of my wheel shaking both ways to work. By the time I'm getting off the highway its just starting to smooth out. Currently running 35 psi cold.

Does anyone know of a good AT tire that doesn't suffer from temporary flat spots like this?

You're going to get a variety of response, so ultimately you'll have to do your research with the suggestions given to you. Read reviews, take your climate into consideration, etc. That being said, I recently purchased the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus (https://www.pirelli.com/tires/en-us/car/catalog/product/scorpion-all-terrain-plus). They are very quiet, smooth and still maintain the aggressive look the rig commands. I've driven them in dry, wet and most recently in snow conditions (deep snow and regular). I haven't had a complaint yet.

I have p version most tires react this way if they have a hybrid compound as does the falken I have a shimmy in my just installed Bridgestone blizzaks
but my shimmy disappears after a few miles on both sets
but have them roadforce balanced and play with tire pressures the higher the better on road

I'm wondering then if they will all shimmy cold then on the 4runner? I had Goodyear's on my Tacoma for 3 years and I could jump right on the highway in winter and they were smooth right away. They were the Goodyear adventurers. I want something more aggressive than that for the 4runner. Is this just a characteristic of an aggressive AT? Do they all have a hybrid compound? I just don't want to switch to say a Toyo or BFG and they do the same thing. There has to be something out there that's aggressive and performs like my Goodyear's did when its cold. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe the new 4runner is more sensitive to it than my old tacoma was. idk

I think that most of the new tires out now are hybrid A/T with a snow flake symbol it’s compound related in order to be an all around performer
But that’s the problem it’s all a trade off/ balance of what you want
And if you search you will see ALL new compound tires have shimmy if not roadforce balance and tire pressures played with

I don't have issues with my Goodyear Duratracs but I do with my wife's 2019 Camry! After a few minutes of driving it goes away.

I must have got some good tires. My wife's truck sits for 5-6 days at a time. When we get in it it drives smooth. Nitto Ridge Grapples. c load rating

I'm curious to know why some tires and some owners report this and some do not? I really wanted something a little more aggressive but at this point I may go back to the Goodyear adventures I had on my Tacoma bc I had no vibration issues.

I have not had vibration issues or the flat spot feel you and others speak of with the tire I mentioned above. It's not to say its not possible, but the pressure was perfect when I bought them, as well as when the temperature dropped for winter. The 4R doesn't sit for more than two days before it is driven, so I am uncertain if that plays a factor.
