Door switch no good? Causing it to stay on?

Ok, so I bought it off my aunt. She kept it in great condition but mentioned the light issue. We have kept all the light switches to off because it is going to be my daughters car and she just recently got her license. And I hate that we can’t have to light switched to “door” so that when she opens the door the lights will come on without it killing the battery... just wasn’t sure if this is something that others have had or what...

    You have a short somewhere.

Since it is NOT happening when you have it switched to "off", I would focus on the door switch and the wiring for it.

When switched to door, does the light turn on and stay on regardless of shutting the door?
