Brake pad suggestions?

    Time to swap my current pads.
    Occasionally carry the RTT.
    Don't mind sticking with OEM just curious if anyone upgraded to something they like

    I'm no help. Just curious for when I need pads.

    I had 102K on my Tacoma on the original pads, rotors, etc, so I was sold on replacing everything with OEM. but, I've never paid for higher end aftermarket brake parts, so I'm curious what others have to say.

    Is your Tacoma stock or fairly built? I'll be replacing my brakes there soon as well. But that is the more built of my two vehicles donuts got a fair amount of weight

    It was stock, but I was usually hauling a few hundred LBS of gear and tools. I'm at 45K on the 4runner now, and the brakes are still good. I'm hauling 500+ LBS. of armor and tools at all times.

    The Trd pads are an upgrade I bought them waiting for a few more miles till I replace them
    Or akebono I absolutely love them have used them in over a dozen of my past cars

    I should have said OEM is and has been great.

    I’m a pretty firm believer in replacing something with OEM or better when the time comes and after my experience with the Z36 Powerstop kit and thinking it would be a good idea to “upgrade” the brakes I will continue to stick with OEM indefinitely.

    I can't speak for the 4Runner because mine only has 1200 miles on it but in my previous vehicles I've never been totally impressed with aftermarket brake pads over OEM UNTIL I tried the Raybestos Elements 3 EHT pads. I've tried them all. If one aspect of the pad was great another aspect would be not so great. I had the EHT's on a Mazda CX5, Toyota Rav 4 and was very happy with them. Virtually no dust on the wheels, very quiet, lasted a long time, & better bite than OEM pads. Lots of pads claim they stop better than OEM but these really do. I think Wagner OEX are also worth a look at too. Both the EHT and OEX pads are designed to give you the best of both worlds between a semi-metallic and a ceramic.
