2021 Headlight brightness

This. Limiteds/Pros do get LED low and high beams... They just use a bi-LED projector in the housing to accomplish this without going through a full redesign. They just keep putting lipstick on a pig every year, and it works because 5th gen 4Runner sales have never been better

 

I took some pics today of the Limited Nightshade head lights...

 

Just in the time I was at the dealer on Saturday 14 4 Runners sold and people wanted to buy the one I have once we hammer out the details and people are wanting to buy my TRD OR but they cant sell it because of the recall and it will sit on the back lot till its fixed. I hate letting it go!

 

Yes and I was both in the mountains and on a rural highway. I ended up lowering them maybe 1/2 inch at most and so far so good on not getting flashed and i have noticed 0 change in my ability to see far in front of me.

Partly I felt bad that it was blinding them but also was super annoyed with people constantly flashing their brights at me

 

I lowered mine ~ 1/2 inch and honestly i cannot tell a difference in visibility...they still throw WAY farther than my previous SUV. So far so good on not being flashed by anyone too!

A half inch at what distance from the wall? (I assume there what you mean?)

 

Actually 4runner lights through straight not spotted on the ground , just take a Phillips screw driver , with the marker make a mark , and turn clockwise headlight adjustment , between 2 or 4 rounds of screw driver would be enough

 

Honestly i didnt measure but my guess is ~10 ft away from the wall. I parked in a parking spot in front of a brick wall and used the mortar lines as my guide, i would say i did 3 or 4 clockwise turns and made sure that the driver side headlight is slightly lower than the passenger to reduce blindness for oncoming traffic

Since I was starting at factory, i really just needed to lower it slightly. If you really wanto to get exact then you need to park 25 ft away from a wall on a level surface and can tape out your measurements however i didnt need to go to that length just to lower it a tiny bit.

I believe my 2021 low beams arebrighter than the very sun itself.

With all due respect, it doesn’t mean much. Four-digit pricing per side seems like the going rate from stealership/ oem nowadays.

I’ve been retrofitting headlights in different types of cars and OEM will always charge your kidney for their stock headlights, even if they’re a POS.

 

With all due respect, $2,150 for better headlights is bananas.

The way I look at the $$ for the 2021 LED lights is if we pretend the LED lights were available as an option in 2020, how much would I pay to get them on my 2020 4Runner? $1,000? Yes. $2,000? No. $1500? Prolly not but I would have to think about it really hard. If they come down to around $1,200 I would def be getting them...

 

Agreed. I would def have paid 1K to option LED headlights on my 2020 Limited. And so I'd pay that today if the dealer or I can do a proper retrofit. As we go higher than that it becomes more of a question. Personally, I can't see spending 2k to do it, since the H9s, while not great, are also not that bad -- especially when run with my OEM LED fogs.

 

I just got a 2021 4runner TRD PRO and hated the LED low bean headlight. At night, its really bright and you can see a big black spot in both left/right side when driving. Took it in to the dealer and they said you will going see that in every 4runner LED headlight. :-(
