Tranfer case seepage

    On my recently purchase 2013 4runner limited, I noticed seepage on transfer case. There is not dripping of oil on the floor. By looking at pictures, can you tell where it is coming from, is there a particular seal that might be the culprit? does it in an urgent attention to be fixed or can it wait?

    I am really not sure what previous owner did or did not do to the car. I bought this car from a local small dealer

    The area by the seal looks pretty clean I'd just watch to see if it gets wet.

    RevTek 3" front- 2" rear leveling, JBA uca's, LED interior lights, Cooper 275-70-17 AT3 LT
    May sure it's at the proper level... if not add.... if it is, watch to make sure it stays looking like it is, also, spray some brake kleen on a rag and wipe of the existing "dirt"/seepage so you can tell if it's really seeping.

    I went under the truck one more time to figure this out. What I noticed this time is that engine oil drain nut is seeping/leaking. This may be because of whoever did the last oil change, they might have used the old crush washer which is now leaking. I see a coating of oil film splashed on parts behind the oil pan. This may be due to wind blowing while driving the car coated this film of oil on the part near directly behind the engine oil pan including the transfer case. What are you thoughts

    Replace the crush washer if you think that is what is causing the leak and clean the residue up with brake cleaner or contact cleaner and monitor.
    I mean really...what do you want someone to tell you here??

    Now if this is your first car I am sorry for the harsh response..if not, see above.

    Thanks for your feedback. Not my first car but first 4runner. Trying to understand the issue better by sharing what I am observing/experiencing and also getting collective knowledge feedback from other 4runner owners in order to better understand and address the issue. Some people may own car for long time but may not be mechanically inclined or may not have taken time to learn and may just have recently developed interest in learning.
    Looks like you are having a bad Sunday :). Hopefully it gets better for you.

    Your doing fine! Some mechanical things are, "same stuff...different day," what I mean is; a leak is a leak is a leak. Whether it's on a BMW, '68 Camaro, or in this case a 4Runner. You did what most anyone else would have done, now it sounds like you've "visually" discovered the problem, now fix it. If you suspect the oil pan drain plug.. change the washer now or wait till the next oil change is due(I've seen serious leaks, and you don't have one!) Clean off the affected areas with brake kleen and you'll pinpoint the leak/seepage! P.S.- I'm betting on the drain plug.

    I have a 2005 from new - now 150,000 miles. I gots a small drip on the garage floor after ten years.
    These are pretty hard to stop. I live with it.

    My 4runner runs the same with the drips (i.e., a drip or two every week?) - same as 15 years ago.

    I thought about those stop-leaks but decided against.

    I tried synthetic one time - got more drips - and went back to conventional.

    Drips seem to be slowing - back on the conventional. I wonder if the oil drips will stop entirely
    on conventional???

    I've come to the conclusion that for lubrication conventional is just as good as synthetic if
    you change it every 5000 miles.

    20,000 miles on synthetic is crazy. Oil must look like mud?
