    Hi folks,

I've got a quick question regarding the Gobirack. It comes with sun roof cutout and without. Now, if I don't care about the "nothing above" optics, does the no-cut-out rack still allow the roof to go up for ventilation?

I rarely ever use the sun roof, so even if it doesn't it wouldn't be a huge loss, but I'm interested to know what the actual use of that cutout is. It makes the rack quite a bit more expensive, that I know ...

I’m not sure if it is an ease of access thing or not, however, on the Gobi website there is a pic of the sunroof open. Does it effect functionality? It doesn’t look like it...

They are very responsive and friendly, call them.

The cutout are for folks who want to fully open the sunroof and still see out.

if you get a non cut out rack, you can still tilt the sunroof open and clear the rack.

    3 things.
Yes a gobi rack without a cut out will allow you to open the sunroof (non issue)
2 - having the cut out allows you to get up on the rack without a ladder
    And
3- the cut out is there incase you fall into a hole and can't use the doors and windows to get out LMAO

Also, my 2c go for the cut out...it comes in super useful... reach up though to acces gear, sit up top, enjoy a better vantage point, jump up thoughtbthe sunroof, plus you could always leave the insert in place or like me keep on just behind the sunroof

I went with the cutout to get the open top feel I did not want to look up and see the rack. An added benefit of the Gobi rack was it eliminated the wind buffing I was getting thru the sunroof when it was open.

Understood. The thing is: I NEVER use the sunroof when driving, the cover is always closed as well. On all my current and previous vehicles. I actually wish, the 4Runner wouldn't have a sunroof. In the last 10 years of ownership of cars with sun roofs, I have opened them maybe 20 times. But they add weight, moving parts, rattle, etc.

Plus, I want to use the space up there anyways.
