I have the Husky floor liners with the holes for the retention clips on the drivers side. The issue is that some water always seems to seep through these holes to the carpet. I have a '19 that has the factory retention clips on the carpets and install the liners as instructed with the clips through the holes and twisted closed.

Has anybody had any success making some plugs or covers for these holes? Is there a product out there that anyone has used? I'm sure that the dampness is from these holes because it's always localized directly beneath them and nowhere else.

This was my first thought but I was hoping for something less ghetto.

Get a color that matches the mats? Else, silicone may work, but I'd think that it would be easy to dislodge after kicking it a few times.

This is disappointing to read. I've been eyeing up the Huskys, but they're pretty senseless if water can get right through them.

These are the weatherbeaters? They appear to have a raised lip around the openings for the clips.

I've got the Toyota all weather mats (bought on craigslist), and no leaks. Might be worth swapping out the Husky's...

Yes, weatherbeaters. They do have a lip but water still seems to get through. I had the weathertechs before and they were worse because they didn't go high enough up the dead pedal so any water still on a boot would leak in from there.

Lame. I have the same Toyota ones as @catus and no complaints. You'd like to think the aftermarket would beat OEM here, but maybe not. :notsure:

To be fair my usage is pretty severe as I out on a lot of walking trails a lot in all kinds of weather so I'm a tough customer for any mat.

The weathertechs work well for me with snow. I don't have to worry about a dead pedal and I am in a third gen. You could use an epoxy to seal the holes, they usually have a clear color that wont look too noticeable once you apply it.

No issues with Husky for me. Always filled with mud/water or snow and never any damp carpets.

I have rubber mats by Toyota in my 4Runner and WeatherTech in our Pilot. both have a pretty good build up around the clip holes. never had any leakage.

My WeatherTechs seem to work well, then again, it doesn't rain a lot down here.

Those little toggles are there to help keep that mat in place, maybe help keep it from sliding up and interfering with the pedals? Not saying I condone it, but you could remove the toggles, and fill those holes with silicone or something. Just have free-floating mats like vehicles have had for a long long time. You didn't hear it from me though.

Those toggles are apparently not easy to remove and I understand that you'll butcher the carpet in the process unfortunately.

I mean, depending on how bad you want them gone a pair of tin snips/dikes/etc. could probably take care of it.

How much water do you get on your mats?

The OEM ones are pretty 'weak'. The sidewalls aren't high enough and they leak out onto the door sill. Here are mine:

Since the best forum ideas were duct tape I came up with my own solution. Small paint can caps, plasti dipped black, sealed over the holes with waterproof sealant. The caps allow room for the carpet clips so the mat still sits flush (although you can't lock them of course, but the mat still sort of clicks into place so all is well), and no more leaks. It is rather ugly but no more wet carpet!

Nice work! I suppose it does look a little nicer than duct tape...

In order for water to leak out through the holes there has to be water getting to the holes. How do you even do that? You’re either filling the mat with like a liter of water, or you’re driving with your left foot pulled way back resting on top of that area while shoes are still wet or snow covered. I don’t know, I’ve never had this problem and I don’t really see how anyone would with typical normal use.

I'm outdoors a lot and my liners get enough water (melting ice off boots does the trick) to get into the area that was the problem.

Do you think that everyone's else experience is identical to yours? Do you think that I just made this all up? Seriously dude..
