I feel the same! As much as I enjoy challenging the 4runner, I am (usually) careful not to do things that might damage it. It's my first new vehicle, and I intend to keep it forever!

I can't comprehend having enough money to not care about a nice vehicle.

Mine is RWD, manual transmission, 370HP, 3L engine with small turbo charger, under 3200lbs curb weight ... it's A LOT nicer to drive on pavement than the 4Runner. It actually goes when you want it to. And corners are actually fun. Not like the overweight, cumbersome pig the 4Runner feels like. But it doesn't want to go even on a gravel parking lot ... ;-)

Sounds like fun! I really do want to pick up something sporty eventually. I tried building a MKII Supra when I was young, but I was always broke. Then, when I could finally afford to throw some money at a vehicle, I bought a Tacoma that made me want another 4runner, and here I am. Someday, though!

I was in the fortunate position to be able to afford a long held dream that I had since I was a kid. It was actually supposed to be "my last combustion engine car", but the desire to go out and camp/explore off-road with my wife brought us the 4Runner and we decided to keep the sporty car and trade in the Mini Cooper S. It was a good decision, we now have two cars basically at the end of the spectrum that is interesting to us – off-road capable enough to get us where we want to go, but not as uncomfortable on the long distances to get there as a Jeep and sporty enough to be really fun in the twisties, while not uncompromising and perfectly fine as a daily driver.

That is likely because those higher end models are targeted more toward luxury than ruggedness. Toyota's philosophy to target both, equally, is one of the reasons I now own a Toyota. :)

Not sure if it's changed (doubtful), but that's definitely how the 'dub crowd rolls. I used to have a GTI. Fun times. Lots of partying lol. :drunk:

This is where my fiancé and I are at, fortunately for me. I've turned her into a bit of a car person, lol. Now that we've splurged on the warrantied, hopefully reliable Toyota, I'm pushing for a 997 as our next vehicle (that's the opposite end of the spectrum in my book! heh). It's funny because she loves Mini Coopers and talks often about getting one of those. You don't consider them sporty?

It will depend on how that turns out. I really like the 370, in spite of some imperfections (according to reviews I've read). So, it will depend on how expensive and good the new generation is. I might just end up in a used 370. :notsure:

I always dreamed of another Supra, but I'm not fully on board with an outsourced sports car. And, I don't think I'll want to dick around with building some old shit-box. So, I think that dream has sailed.

My first car was a 87 supra turbo. That thing was pretty fun, not terriibly fast acceleration wise, but still plenty of fun.

I test drove a 3rd gen turbo at a used car dealer once when I was a young asshole who test drove cars for entertainment. It was one of my favorite cars I've ever driven! Not super fast, but cool car. I would love one with JDM 1JZ swap!

First gear was fun then it was kinda gutless until above 80 or so thats where the straight six and the turbo seemed to shine. Kept up with 5.0 mustangs on the freeway.

Me: "Well now, wouldn't be gentlemanly-like to let ma dick drag on the floor behind me....."
