Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
I think they were all waving you down for help. You know, because their Jeeps were broken down.

nah. I take a weird amount of pride in driving a vehicle as long as possible (I kept a Chevy Blazer rolling for 17 years before I gave up and learned that you never really stop making payments on a Chevy). If anything, I'd love to find a slightly older 4Runner. Besides, she's kinda hot and insists on wearing yoga pants all the time.

The Jeep wave has taken on new meaning. Now its a sign of condolences and sympathies that they understand the pain of owning a Fiat

I don't understand the PRO thing...everything except the locker and some paint colors are easily added to the SR5 by superior equipment...and the locker *can* be added for not much money.

Maybe Toyota should make a "King" edition of the SR5 4Runners to price out the PRO mall crawlers?....just a thought

    I tease ;-)

Some feel that the lever actuated transfer case is better than the switch activated transfer case. I don't necessarily have an opinion on this, but I do like having the old school lever.

To your point, the off-road is mechanically identical to the PRO, and doesn't cost much more than an SR5. Throw in $5-10k worth of armor, suspension, and recovery gear and you have a real PRO killer. :)

hows that warranty tho :D also dual climate control. If you knew my wife this would be required equipment. Also rear lock unlock window buttons. Which I use more than any other option. Also a rack that is perfect for garland and Christmas lights. That shit is priceless right there.

Pretty sure I can lock out my rear windows. :notsure:

Just pointing out that an off-road will school a PRO with a few upgrades.

I'm not concerned about the warranty.

That’s a neat idea. thought about garland but decided not too when I ran out of garland. I did a wreath on the front but was worried it would mess with TSS so I took it off

A guy showed up at Tacos and Coffee with a wreath on his steel bumper. I thought it looked excellent!

It's interesting...on almost every other 4x4 the manual transfer case lever is on the lower-end models.

This video from the 2017 "Fest" gives you a taste. Over 600 Snakes in one midwestern town, from all over the States... A fiercely devoted group... jump past the gymkhana part of the video at the start to where the cars start rolling into the downtown.

Ford has been killing it with the Mustang. That Coyote motor is a beast even in stock form. I can't imagine how nice the supercharged version is!

The 2013/14 engine - a variation of the Coyote, modular engine, called the Trinity, was only put into the Shelby for two years: 2013-2014. It is a 5.8 liter engine, whereas the more common Coyote engine, is the 5.4 liter. The 5.8 is the same stroke as the 5.4, the 5.8 has a bigger bore to make it a 5.8, but higher compression than the 5.4. The 5.8 has stronger internals, and the cylinder heads have better cooling passages. The regular Coyote engine can be modded quite a bit, whereas the 5.8 Trinity can be modded up to 750-800 horsepower, but not any higher. The rods won't stand up.

    Weak. A 2jz can hold 1000HP all day. :D

I was mostly referring to the 5.0. I didn't realize there were so many variants.

Either way, I would happily drive the shit out of a modern Mustang. My background of driving Toyotas makes me want to stick to something Japanese when time comes to buy a sports car. But, these Mustangs are so much bang for the buck.

In fact, most tuners consider the 2JZ-GTE's bottom end as capable of withstanding up to 800 horsepower. But, beyond that, some internal mods have to occur.
IMO, the sound all that horsepower puts out from a 2JZ is like an angry hive of bees. Annoying! I will stick with the gorgeous sound coming from a 4-cam, supercharged American V-8, thank you very much. :p

Still as much as an engine twice as big! And, I've read of higher numbers. I recall one guy back in the late 90's making 1266 RWHP on stock internals. I don't know why they overbuilt those motors so much, but I assume it was to make sure they would be reliable.

And, if you didn't like the sound, it was probably just a shitty exhaust. They generally sound like beautiful music.

Yeah, probably so. Honestly, I am happy with the 662 factory HP. More than enough for this old man. I saw where a young guy blew up his 2020 GT500 engine. He abused the heck out of it. What an idiot. He has more $$$ than sense.

I'd be happy with 300+ hp, RWD, and stick. I'm probably buying a Z once the 4runner is paid off, but looking at other options as well.

I wish there was a video of whatever the guy did to that poor car! Holy crap!

So this is what happens when you try to push too much power on stock internals? :D

I feel like I would have been more upset if I were the owner. But, I guess if you have that kind if money for toys, you can afford a new motor now and then.

So true. Not sure how he makes his money, though that must come easily. Some of us have worked hard for whatever we've achieved or gained. I won't abuse my 4Runner or my Shelby. It is an honor or a dream attained, to own either of them. Must be a generational difference, once again.
