Planning for more exterior lights in the near future, and it occurred to me that rooftop led light bars and ditch lights are pretty easy to steal right? Would putting an LED light bar behind the front lower grill be a more secure choice?

If you're worried about theft get some security bolts. But like all things if they want it they'll take it, just a matter of time.

I'd be more worried about someone stealing my tires. I doubt thieves want to deal with wiring

Well stealing tires is a little harder than undoing a few bolts on light bar brackets. Ok most thiefs dont walk around with a driver socket, but Idk seems like a quick ~$300 to make in a just a few minutes of work. Just a few weeks ago heard of several ppl having their catalytic converter stolen from trailheads in CO.

There are a lot of solutions, small amount of weld over the nut, thread locker, security nuts/bolts, welding a tab so its hard to get tools on it, just find a solution that works for you.

Something also to think about is don't make it so overbuilt they destroy stuff in the process and make it worse. I had a buddy who used security nuts to secure his head unit, so they took the whole dash.

I have a cheap Auxbeam light bar behind the grill. I think the grill blocks lot of light output.
I think the light bar inside the bumper would be a safer and good choice in terms of light output.

They will and can steal anything if they want it enough.

Well you clearly never had a stereo receiver stolen befoee built-in head units were commonplace :D. That reminds me of the detachable faceplates. Good times lol

Anyways, I wouldn't go overboard, but I will get at least security bolts. I think the light bar behind grill is more secure but I prefer the look of the rooftop one.

    I prefer behind the grill.

But I also have no desire to make holes in my roof for a rooftop nor do I need one up there.
