Hey All, I’m a newbie so hello to everyone. My question is how often if at all have you changed your transmission fuel filter? I have 2002 with 163k and bought it about six years ago with 91k. Nowhere in the records did I see that it was replaced. It runs beautifully and I’ve done all other maintenance except that. Any advice is appreciated!

I have a 2002 with 260k on her. I bought her new. I changed the transmission filter for the first time at 250k. No major particles were seen. I would say you are due just because of age and to check the health of the transmission.

Now, by fuel filter...do you mean the separate fuel filter in the fuel line? I have never changed that. But am about to as I will be redoing my entire evap system due to a few evap codes and don't want to drop my fuel tank more than once.

There is no such thing as a "transmission fuel filter".

Ooops I meant transmission FLUID filter. Thanks for the correction, I think I’ll do this then since it could potentially be the original one. As far as the fuel filter goes, I just did mine about a year ago. I have learned a ton watching Timmy the Toolman on YouTube. He’s got a 3rd gen and one of his videos is on the fuel filter. Pretty easy once you see how to do it but I never would have known where to even start without it. Anyway, thanks so much for the info I appreciate it!

yeah, I just went and watched his vid. Don't have to drop the tank on changing the fuel filter. So I can wait on that.
