Mysterious Motor Sound?

Just got my first 4Runner about two weeks ago—2021 Venture Edition. About 4-5 hrs after a short, regular drive for coffee this morning, I walked into the garage and heard a mysterious sound coming from the lower rear of my truck. It sounded like a small motor running. I started it up and let it run for a few seconds and turned it off. I haven’t heard it after that.

Any ideas what it was and why it was running so long after it was parked?

this is it Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check and, it does not indicate a malfunction.

because I am not using my 4runner much with the China virus I have to put my battery charger on it .. I put charger on it for 8 hrs to fully charge the battery .. runners use a lot of battery power when not running..
I charge my 1996 Impala and it charges up fully in one hour ...

Yeah that's what I tell people. My friend said what is that sound. I said that's the sound of reliability and you don't hear it with other vehicles like BMW, Ford or Chevy. She said hers doesn't make any noise either and she said I drive a Subaru. I didn't have a comeback for her since those are just as reliable.

 

Nah, after 100k miles the new ones overheat, they have headgasket issues and they have CVTs. Yuck. I’m general, Subaru is not what it used to be anymore. I looked at the crosstrek and outback, couldn’t put up with the looks and the cvt. No contest.

does this engine have direct fuel injection ... ? GM had engine failures with direct fuel injection
GM did not test these engines properly so the oil used is causing these failures.
DIRECT FUEL INJECTION .... The oil now must be the 5-30wt SN PLUS .. if you have a direct fuel injection engine you must upgrade to this SN PLUS oil..

failures , engine explodes / engine dies on the road /timing chain snaps/pistons lock up / crankcase venting system fails creates high pressure then the oil explodes all over the road.
