Seriously, I've never been more okay with hitting a deer in a vehicle than with my 4Runner. I just want an excuse to get an aftermarket front bumper. A couple weeks ago a coked out deer crossed the road then crossed right back in front of me, and I didn't hit it at all. I swear, if I didn't have bad luck then I'd have no luck at all! It was running at warp speed! No joke!

I feel the same way! I’m not sure if It’s worth the trouble with the insurance though. Going to go with the OEM fog lights this go round for sure

It's for this reason I would love to have a steel aftermarket bumper. I've hit deer plenty of times, usually not good for the deer, or me. Some people have older vehicles "deer proofed", they damn near look like something from a Mad Max movie! Wisconsin..... home of Beer, and plenty of Deer!

Must be the season. A guy in Minnesota started a similar thread on Tacomaworld yesterday at almost the same time.

@Txbobcat I hope insurance takes care of you!

Just wait until you hit one, and buy the bumper with insurance money. :D

Seriously, though, a proper steel bumper is a pretty solid investment in Wisconsin! I've had many close calls, even in my area.

We got hit by a deer in our '87 MR2 years ago. It hit the passenger side after we slowed down because another deer had run across. The passenger door, fender, and mirror were toast. This was right in Milwaukee, at Whitnall Park.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
This. I just got back to NY from a North Carolina deer hunt. The ditches on the sides of the roads down there have a lot of dead deer in them and yeah, blood stains galore. I don't understand how the locals down there tear along on back roads without their bright lights on. I prefer to bag my deer from a stand in the woods.

I like spending insurance money better than my own money! In one respect that's why I pay the premiums though, just what a pain in the ass with the down time and all.

Does anyone have recommendations for full a/m bumper replacements? The ones I’ve seen still have part of the factory bumper. Interested in some options. Seen c4, arb etc...

Victory 4×4 makes a really good looking full bumper. I can't recall if it keeps part of the original bumper or not, though.

This whole thing of possibly being able to take a nap while driving frightens me.

Some of the "systems" in vehicles now days seem to promote things like that and/or, my favorite.... texting and driving.

I think the Android Auto navigation is great. Everything else, I ignore it or turn it off. It's just a big fat nope for me.

Granted, I'm fortunate that I don't have a job that expects me to pick up if someone calls me while I'm driving, but still. Just focus on driving!

I'm not allowed to talk on a cell phone in a commercial vehicle unless I have a hands free device(Blue parrot, earbud, etc.) Even then if someone is talking at ya with directions and your doing a series of turning, shifting, stuff to make the truck go, there is a certain amount of distraction still. So I totally agree "just focus on driving!"
