My 2002 4runner with 102K miles has the original struts/shocks. What would you experts recommend as replacements ? also...should I get the front end aligned after I replace them ? Thanks !!

It depends on what kind of ride you're after.

If you like the way it rides stock, then go for a stock replacement.

If you think it could handle better with a slightly firmer shock, try a bilstein 5100.

Yes, you will need an alignment after replacing suspension components.

I was thinking that the ride / handling could be a little better with more modern/better quality strut/shock. I imagine most would upgrade from stock. thanks for the advice.

replace with OEM...unless you're looking to upgrade...and get a alignment....it will be needed
