Don't know about the 97, as most of my experience is with the 2010+ but typically 2-2.5" is about the limit you can lift with the original Upper Control Arms.

2in. Probably would still want to do new brake lines with that. Take your running boards off and it'll look like a 3 or 4in lift lol

You'll run into CV axle boot issues before your drive shaft gives you problems.

May even have to do the ECGS bushing (not everyone needs it).

    I'd suggest no more than 2"-2 1/2"

    Here's mine at 2 1/4"

I need to replace my CV axles since my inner boot already tore up and grease flung out everywhere. The other one is on its way out too.

Going to be trying these extended traveling CV axles I bought a few weeks ago

Meanwhile, I'll put extended boots and new grease on the old set and keep as trail spares.

Kind of funny that I posted that earlier today; work was a bit slow so I actually replaced one of my CV axles.

Here is the axle with the torn boot

And here is the replacement in place

Quick and easy job. I'll say the boots don't look like they'll rub or contact with anything and being that they're meant for "extended travel", I'm guessing they'll hold up a lot better for wheeling than my stock set did while being lifted.
